Victory Day (Stalin Was't Stallin')

Victory Day never seemed a huge holiday for me as it seems for my parents and teachers. Parades, fireworks, tears of old people have never excited. Young people, we know about the suffering, deaths, tortures, battles, statisctics, but we will never understand it (I hope we'll never do it.). All the documentaries, movies, photos, books make us cry and feel scared of human cruelty, make us remember people's mistakes, but there're always people which never get it seriously. And this is what should make other people scared.
I can't comprehend how Hitler didn't learn by Napoleon's experience? However poor Russia may be, there's always a core of something that makes our country Russia. Power, hearfulness, patriotism, famous Russian soul. This core makes me, my relatives and friends be Russian, this core will characterize us from all people around the world. Even though I and people around me blame our miserable Motherland, at least we can hold for our unbreakable history. Here the words of the outstanding Russian poet are very appropriate:

Comrade, believe: it will arise,
The star of captivating bliss,
Russia will rise herself from sleep,
And on the ruins of despotism
Our names will be inscribed!
Alexander Pushkin, "To Chaadaev"

What about me, so I'm pretty unlucky today: inspite of the bad weather, we've had a concert, but I must admit the veterans we've been performing to have been full of energy, it's pleasent.
Just now I've been looking for a song which was written during the World War II, and I've found a nice a cappella American patriotic song written in 1943 called "Stalin Wasn't Stallin'". Later in 1980 Robert Wyatt covered the song, also in the a capella technique. The song praises the efforts of Joseph Stalin and all Soviet Army, and it's so cute and easy, not like most war songs.

Stalin wasn't stallin'
When he to1d the beast of Berlin
That they'd never rest contented
Til they had driven him from the land
So he called the Yanks and English
And proceeded to extinguish
The Fuhrer and his vermin
This is how it all began

Now the Devil he was reading
In the good book one day
How the lord created Adam
To walk the righteous way
And it made the Devil jealous
He turned green up to his horns
And he swore by things unholy
That he'd make one of his own

So he packed two suitcases
Full of grief and misery
And he caught the midnight special
Going down to Germany
Then he mixed his lies and hatred
With fire and brimstone
Then the devil sat upon it
That's how Adolf was born

Now Adolf got the notion
That he was the master race
And he swore he'd bring new order
And put mankind in it,s place!
So he set his scheme in motion
And he was winning everywhere
Until he up and got the notion
For to kick that Russian bear

Yes he kicked that noble Russian
But it wasn't very long
Before Adolf got suspicious
The he had done something wrong
Cause that bear grabbed the Fuhrer
And gave him an awful fright
Seventeen months he scrapped the Fuhrer
Tooth and claw, day and night

Then that bear smacked the Fuhrer
With a mighty armored paw
And Adolf broke all records
Running backward towards Krakaw
The Goebbels sent a message
To the people everywhere
That if they couldn't hit the Fuhrer
Go down hit that Russian bear

And Robert's version

I guess, almost everybody around the world knows and likes Russian war song "Katyusha". But to tell the truth, this song had been written even before the War. The lyrics was changed many times and still people create new variations of it. Our choir sings "Katyusha" at the concerts too, and my friend and I sang it when we were in Japan.

Well, what can I say? The War may be said to have united people of all the world, but it hurt too much. This shouldn't be repeated.

Be brave, don't spark a war.

Rumour Has It (so slow)

Yey! I've got 4/B for my final math test! I'm so proud of myself, even though my teacher said I was on the verge. So today we wrote a work for Russian, and rumour has it, I've got an excellent mark and just one mistake.
In 2 days I'll have a concert for the veterans due to the Victory Day. But if the weather's bad, we won't perform. On the one hand I don't want to perform, it's a real chore, but on the other hand I don't want bad weather.
In two weeks our boys will leave us for their military training. Sure, some of boys will remain because they can't be there by the reason of the age. Poor guys, they want to be in a par with the others. So, will we miss the boys? Undoubtedly. Even at least because I'll go to school and back home alone for 5 days in a row!
The last "Doctor Who" episode I watched yesterday night just shoсked me! I thought I wouldn't sleep! But the end caught my interest and calm me down, so I'm alright and wait for the next episode with... [SPOILERS] the Cybermen! I've missed them, our good old buddies. But look at the history line of the Cybermen - they were so funny in the beggining. Of course, that time people didn't think so.

A couple of days ago I missed a date - one of the most marvellous singers of modern time was born 25 years ago on the 5th of May. I'm sure you all understand who I'm talking about - she's beautiful Adele! I don't expand the information about her, that you know, but I can't help mentioning her "Oscar" and "Golden Globe Award" for her amazing 007's soundtrack "Skyfall". I've already called this song TSOTD and even The Song Of The Week! If you look more carefully, you can find the name of the song of the day - certainly Adele's one. But don't trouble yourself - it's droll "Rumour Has It"! Moreover, "Glee" made a mash-up of this song with "Someone Like You", and it was their aniversary 300th performance. So, here gorgeous Adele goes! And "Glee" girls too

Bless your soul, you got your head in the clouds
You made a fool out of me and, boy, I'm bringing you down
You made my heart melt yet I'm cold to the core
But rumour has it I'm the one you're leaving her for

Be brave!

Welcome To The Life Of Electra Heart

Fortunately, I won't have a concert tomorrow and will have an English lesson. You'd think "She's mad", but I'm really fed up with our concerts and I already missed one lesson with my tutor last Saturday. Moreover, I'll have 2 big works, so better write them and forget.
BTW, about big works - the time of final tests has started today with the big test for mathematics. I don't know how to describe it, because some of tasks were easy, some - unbelievable difficult. (Not for the humanitarians, as my friend would say). But tomorrow at school we will take a similar test for the Russian language, so it's exactly the field for my brains. Therefore I don't even worry about it, but it'll be awkward, if my Russian's scores are low. DREAM ABOUT IT, BITCHES
Right now I'm going to watch the last episode of "Doctor Who". I think the Doctor is closer and closer to find out who's Clara in fact. Talking about the series, yesterday I watched the last episode of "Glee", and I was actually crying during the episodes with Cassie July. She turned to be so cute!
In a week my favourite Eurovision will begin! Yey! Do you know the competitors? I've already seen everyone, but I agree with the bookmakers - Denmark is the best! What about Mother Russia? Well, Dina's pretty, but Russia can't hold the Eurovision and the Olimpiad in one year. And I don't think our song's good enough to be #1.
As long as I've mentioned "bitches", let the song of the day will be an electro-rock song "Bubblegum Bitch" by fabulous Marina And The Diamonds.

I've chosen some nice fan-arts dedicated this cocky song:

Be brave to save your *bubblegum heart*

Happy Easter 2013

It's the Easter, and all I do the whole day long is eating and sleeping literally. I've even had a dream that my mom and I arrived to NY and we needed a map. So one native man decided to give us his map, plus a keychain. Due to the rule that everything mast be paid for, my mom gave the man $600, having forgotten that $600 isn't 600 rubles. It's kinda a little lesson from me for myself not to forget about it during my USA trip.
Today there won't be a TV programm I like, so probably I'll watch a movie or will keep on watching "The Sex And The City". It should be obvious on my loving "The Carrie Diaries". Even though it's rather 18+.
The weather becomes good. Snow melts. And no, it's not a joke.
Omitting all my snotty thoughts, I admit there's always something we should care less about. Just promise me not to miss a chance and enjoy living right at the moment.
Here's the song of the day. It's "The Man I Love" by beloved Lana Del Rey.

All that's real to me,
Is Marilyn and Jesus.
Jumping off'a bridges,
Sparklers and streamers.

Honey, I wanna fly,
I wanna fly, I wanna fly.

All that's real to me,
Is Halloween and Jesus,
Coney Island beaches,
Chandeliers and seizures.

Honey, I wanna fly,
I wanna fly, I wanna fly.

I can't be with the man I love,
I can't be if he treats me rough.
I can't see him, I can't call him up.

All that's real to me,
Is trailer parks and beaches,
Alabama freezes,
Platinum impeaches.

Honey, I wanna fly,
I wanna fly, I wanna fly.

All that's real to me,
Is Halloween and Jesus,
Coney Island beaches,
Chandeliers and seizures.

Honey, I wanna fly,
I wanna fly, I wanna fly.

I can't be with the man I love,
I can't be if he treats me rough.
I can't see him, I can't call him up.

All that's real to me,
Is Marilyn and Jesus.
Jumping off'a bridges,
Sparklers and streamers.

I can't be with the man I love,
I can't be if he treats me rough.
I can't see him, I can't call him up.

And here's some pictures for you, as I like doing it.

Moreover, I wanna share with you how our table has looked like in the morning. It's been really nice, even though my niece damaged the red Easter Cake.

A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (A typical short post)

30 minutes ago I thought I wouldn't write a post today, because I'm too sleepy, but I've just now turned on one of my favourite songs for nowadays, and decided I'm full of the power to write a short post.
So today I've had a walk with some crazy guys, figured out I've got a fan, got aching legs and all this stuff people have after long walks with the friends.
Tomorrow will be the Orthodox Easter! We're ready with coloured eggs, Easter cakes and even a big chocolate egg! Gotta be yammy!
And the song of the day will be a dancing and inflammatory song by Fergie feat Q-Tip & GoonRock called "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody" for the future must-be-unbelievable movie "The Great Gatsby". This song just drives me crazy (as well as many songs from the movie's soundtrack do), I'm up to listen to it round the clock. So, here it goes!

Be brave and dance until you drop

P.S. It's an anniversary post - the 300 one! Cheers!

"Florence And The Machine" evening

I don't know what to write about except we won't study tomorrow and I'm doing the weirdest maniqure I've ever done. Therefore let's do the music evening and listen to the band which is worth being listened to. Let me introduce you the most mysterious band you all know - "Florence And The Machine"!
I'll give you some my favourite songs by this incredible band.

  • Firstly, it's a song I heard the first and my love for "Frolence And The Machine" started exactly with this song. And the song is "Seven Devils"

  • My second love is "Never Let Me Go". Take in the romantic!

  • Another song I want to share with you is "Dog Days Are Over". It reminds me about the exams I passed last year.

  • And the last song for today is my also favourite "Shake It Out". I cry to this song and at the same moment it cheers me up. As you know, "Glee" sang this song too, and I heard it for the first time right there.

Be brave,
seven devils all around you!

May. Snow. Summer Wine.

But fuck you, May, if you're snowy! Today it's been snowing outside! The First Of The May!!
Fortunately, when we were performing, it wasn't snowing much, even though something little, like snowy rain, was flying down from the sky. In general, our performance was shorter than it'd had to be, and instead of 40 minutes being on the stage, we sang 5 songs.
All day long I'm feeling like ill, my mood's down, everything's grey. Where's the rainbow?
In spite of the fact that all our huge country will have a rest tomorrow, we... will study. And the day after tomorrow. The only good thought is that there's only 30 days to suffer.
Do you long for summer? I know you definitely do. Therefore here's some summer wine for you. Ooooh-oooh, summer wine!

Be brave and pass some time,
And I will give to you summer wine.
